A Safer North Village (Avondale) Starts With Us!Â
The North Village Avondale Group was founded by current and former HOA Board members who recognized the need for stronger communication and a greater sense of community within our neighborhood.
Our mission is to advocate for homeowners and keep our group informed about priorities that enhance safety, property values, and the quality of our community.

Priority #1: Safety
A safe neighborhood is the sum of neighbors watching out for one another!
Priority #2: Increasing Our Property Values!
Remember, how you care for your property directly impacts the overall value of our community!
Priority #3: Community
A strong community begins with mutual respect, communication and support of others within our community!
Safety
Our primary goal is to ensure the safety of our community by fostering better communication and collaboration among neighbors. We aim to have representatives from every street to share updates and look out for one another.
-
Examples of Our Efforts:
- Halfway House: A home in our neighborhood was rented to a halfway house, leading to frequent visits from social workers and police due to tenant activity. While these services are valuable, we felt this type of business was not suited for a family-oriented community. With our group’s efforts and cooperation from the homeowner, the issue was resolved.
- Hit-and-Run Incident: On Halloween evening, a driver who regularly visits our neighborhood lost control of their vehicle, drove over the sidewalk, and crashed through a fence, landing in the field on Aster. The driver fled the scene but was later apprehended and arrested for DUI. This vehicle had been reported multiple times for reckless driving in our neighborhood.
- Porch Pirate: A suspicious RV was recently spotted stealing packages from porches. With the help of our neighbors’ security cameras, we identified the vehicle involved and shared the information with the VPD.
Â
The porch pirate incident highlights why it’s essential to have one or two members from each street actively involved. Together, we can review footage, share information, and collaborate with local authorities to keep our community safe.
Property Values!
Maintaining and increasing the value of our homes starts with us!
We all understand the importance of “curb appeal” when it comes to our individual homes. A well-maintained property doesn’t just benefit the homeowner—it adds value to the entire community.
Community!
Our goal is to foster a strong sense of community in our neighborhood by building connections and encouraging open communication among residents. By getting to know one another, we can cultivate trust, collaboration, and a shared commitment to making our neighborhood a safe, welcoming place for everyone.
Hosting events like block parties, clean-up days, and seasonal celebrations can bring neighbors together, while initiatives like this neighborhood group, newsletters, and community updates via Zoom calls can keep us connected and informed.
When we support each other and take pride in our properties, we transform our neighborhood from just a place to live into a place to belong. Together, we can create a vibrant, inclusive community where everyone feels at home.
